How To Fix A Loose La-Z-Boy Recliner Back
Remove the recliner back in 5 easy steps:
You’ve got a La-Z-Boy recliner, it’s become a little loose, a little wobbly over time, and you’re not sure how to fix it. There’s an easy 5-step method that you can follow and get the recliner back in working order.
In this video, I’m gonna walk you through the five steps on how to take apart your recliner and put it back together and sit back down in comfort.
I’m here to walk you through getting five easy steps on how to remove the back of your La-Z-Boy recliner.
Step 1
First pull the recliner forward just like this.
Step 2
Locate the locking bracket. You will find the brackets on the back of your chair, it’s a little metal piece, you have another one on this side right here.
Step 3
Pull the locking levers up, push back there. You wanna pop that back up.
Step 4
Roll the recliner back to normal position, roll the recliner back in the place.
Step 5
Rock the back from side to side in an upward motion, and then we can pull the back off.
Tighten the brackets
Brackets in the back of your chair can become loose over time, and so while we have the back disassembled, what we wanna do is tighten the screws on both brackets to make the chair more secure.
You’ll see you have your brackets right here, you got two of them. You want to tighten those up right there is just like so. So flip it around, got two more on this side here, so tighten those.
Tighten screws on back
As well as tightening the brackets on the back of the chair, you can also tighten the exposed screws on the back of the body as well, to give you a little bit more stability.
Reinstall the recliner back
So now that we’ve tightened the brackets on the back and the exposed screws in the body, we need to install the chair together. We can do this with five easy steps, which is basically the opposite of what we did to take it apart.
- Align the brackets at a slight angle.
- Roll the recliner forward.
- Push the locking levers down.
- Roll the recliner back to it’s normal position.
- Test installation by gently twisting from side to side.
