Difference Between a Rocker Recliner & Wall Saver Recliner
Hi, my name is Randy and we are going to take a look at the difference between a La-Z-Boy rocker recliner and a wall saver recliner.
Both look very similar. This is actually the James, the 521 recliner from La-Z-Boy, again both look very similar, but you can tell this one will rock and this one will not rock.
The rocker recliner
These are both chaise recliners and you can see that the progress is continuous so you don’t have that gap in there under your knees.
I’ll go ahead and recline back all the way, so you can see it. It lays back pretty far, and then I’ll go ahead and put it down, and there’s that popping sound that you’re on all La-Z Boy rocker recliners. It is perfectly normal to hear that sound.
The wall saver recliner
Now I’ll show you reclining the wall saver recliner and you can see it slides out and slides back. Also, you don’t get that popping sound on this one like you do on the rocker recliner. You can see that the wall saver recliner does not rock.
For some people, they either need it closer to the wall or they need more sturdiness when standing up or getting out of the chair. A lot of people like to push themselves up. It’s a little bit more difficult to do that on a rocker recliner as it is going to move on you.
The difference when the back is reclined
With the La-Z-Boys you can recline the back without putting the footrest up, so I’m gonna turn these sideways so you can see the difference.
To fully recline, you need about 11 inches of space behind the rocker recliner, and about 6 inches of space behind the wall recliner. So if you have limited space, the wall saver is a good choice.
The difference underneath the recliners
Underneath the wall saver recliner, you have a metal base, it’s a track that just slides.
Underneath the rocker recliner, you have a wooden track and you can see the rocker springs here. The wooden track, that would probably attribute to a slightly lower retail price. You have a lot more steel underneath the wall saver one that you don’t have on this one.
In summary these are the major differences between the wall saver and the rocker recliner.
